How a tasting works
We open the bottles, say a short word about each and let you taste your way through at your own pace. There is no exam, no spittoon etiquette and no expectation that you can put words to what you are tasting. The point is that you leave with one or two bottles you know you like, not that you memorise a system. There is usually room for a smaller group, and seats at the public tastings tend to go quickly .. they are announced in the newsletter before they go up anywhere else.
What gets poured
The wines come from the list we already have standing, so everything you taste can go home with you afterwards. Mostly European, a good share organic and low-intervention, and there is always something in there that surprises people who thought they knew what they liked. If you have a wish .. only white, only Italy, or something else entirely .. say so beforehand and we rebuild the running order. There is bread, olives and usually some cheese and charcuterie on the table, so nobody tastes on an empty stomach.
The practical bit
We are at Istedgade 29, a five minute walk from Copenhagen Central Station. There is no stage and there are no reserved seats .. if you want to sit down, come well ahead, because the room fills up around an hour before the music starts. The bar stays open between sets.
Coming as a group? If there are more than a handful of you, write to us beforehand. We cannot reserve tables on concert nights, but we can tell you whether there is room at all. reservations@vesterhus.dk
